If you are a member of VaLGITE, you may go to the archives by following
the directions below:
LISTSERV - VIEWING THE ARCHIVES
Viewing The Archives
The first time you view the archives, you must set up your password
and security. This is a one time effort and security can be totally
transparent for future access. Setting up and saving your password
consists of the steps below. You may want to print this page
for easy reference while registering.
1. Go to the Archives website at
www.lgov.org/archives
.
See "Sample Archive Page" below.
2. Select a month's archives for viewing (any month will work)
such as March, 2001.
3. You will see the Login Required Screen. Select "get a new LISTSERV
password first"
See sample "Login Required" screen below.
4. This will present the Registering your LISTSERV password screen.
Enter your regular E-Mail address and choose a password of your
choice and enter the password twice.
See sample "Registering our LISTSERV password" screen below.
5. You will receive back a screen "Confirmation of e-mail." It
will explain that to maintain security, a confirmation will be sent
to your regular e-mail address. This e-mail will arrive shortly after
the submission above.
See sample "Confirmation of e-mail" below.
6. You will also receive an e-mail that will ask you to activate
your account by clicking on the URL in the e-mail which, if you
have an active browser, will initiate confirmation. This is a second
e-mail, not the confirmation e-mail in the step above.
See sample "Sample e-mail similar to the one you should receive"
below.
7. You are now set to access the archives. Repeat steps 1 and
2 above and you should be able to access the archives.
8. At the Login screen - the same one as in step 3 above - enter
you e-mail address and newly
created password.
If you are willing to keep a cookie from the LISTSERV then choose:
If you choose this option you can go back into the archives or
make changes to the settings on your account and never have to sign
in again.

Login required
The function you have requested requires authentication.
Please enter your e-mail address and your LISTSERV password (not the
password you use to login to your computer or read your mail), and
click on the "Login" button. If this is the first time you see this
dialog, or if you have forgotten your password, you will need to get
a new LISTSERV password first.
Registering your LISTSERV password
Please enter your e-mail address and the desired password, then
click on the "Register password" button. If you already had a LISTSERV
password, but cannot remember what it was, this procedure will automatically
replace your existing password with the new one you will be entering
below.
Confirmation e-mailed
Your password registration request has been accepted.
For your protection, the password will not be activated just yet (anyone
could have completed this form using your e-mail address).
To activate your password, simply follow the instructions
which have been e-mailed to you at your e-mail address. Please
wait until you receive a message from LISTSERV saying "Your
new password was registered successfully" before trying to
use it with the WWW interface.
Sample e-mail similar to the one you should receive:
Your command:
PW REP XXXXXXXX
requires confirmation. To confirm the execution of your
command, simply point your browser to the following URL:
http://www.lgov.org/scripts/wa.exe?OK=D86AE69A
Alternatively, if you have no WWW access, you can reply
to the present message and type "ok" (without the quotes) as the text
of your message. Just the word "ok" - do not retype the command.
This procedure will work with any mail program that fully conforms
to the Internet standards for electronic mail. If you receive an error
message, try sending a new message to LISTSERV@LIST.LGOV.ORG (without
using the"reply" function - this is very important) and type "ok
D86AE69A" as the text of your message.
Finally, your command will be cancelled automatically
if LISTSERV does not receive your confirmation within 48 hours. After
that time, you must start over and re-send the command to get a new
confirmation code. If you change your mind and decide that you do NOT want
to confirm the command, simply discard the present message and let
the request expire on its own.
